Approved For Release 20019'7/30 : CIA-RDP79T00827A002000070QQ-1-8 28 November 1969 BRIEFING NOTICE PHILIPPINES MALAYSIA NATIONALIST CHINA SINGAPORE THAILAND INDONESIA NEPAL AUSTRALIA AFGHANISTAN NEW ZEALAND 1. DDI requires a briefing book on the above countries for a meeting on 9 December with Vice Presi- dent Agnew prior to the latter's trip. Because DDI wants to see the book by Thursday, 4 December, contri- butions must reach Presentations Branch by noon Wednesday, December 3, at the latest. 2. Classification can be wide open if necessary, but when a statement is based solely on Comintor TKH, it should be clear in the text that this is derived from sensitive sources. 3. Each country briefing should be basic in nature: What are the fundamental problems, stability, viability of the economy, what are the immediate current problems, etc. In most cases, two to three pages in NSC Briefing format will be sufficient, but obviously some will re- quire longer presentations to cover the basics. (E.g., Malaysia has communal problems, remnants of Communist insurgent problems, problems with Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia, ggggraphic problems, and just cataloging them is going to take a certain amount of space. 4. As an appendix the briefing book will contain the basic data sheets on each country. Accordingly, along with the briefing, please submit any changes needed to bring the pertinent pages in the OBGI Basic Data Handbook up to date.
