There is little information from the military front where Indian troops were reported to have crossed the Pakistani boundary in the direction of Hyderabad and Karachi. This is not confirmed. Pakistan continues its approaches to variois nations for aid or other su o ews espa c es rom a ar a s a e that Indonesia has agreed to help Pakistan against India and that President Sukarno has ar- ranged a meeting of the Supreme Operation Command for tonight to discuss what kind of help Indonesia will give Pakistan. 5. Prime Minister Pearson of Canada has announced that both India and Pakistan have rejected his offer to mediate the Kashmir dispute. In Ceylon, a Ministry of External Affairs official told a US Embassy official that Ceylon might consider offering itself as mediator if U Thant's efforts are not successful. 6. Peking is pressing ahead with its campaign aimed at deterring India from major escalation of the Kashmir war by renewed threats of possible Chinese intervention. The Chinese have followed up their menacing government statement broadcast yesterday with an open diplomatic note to New Delhi delivered on 8 September which restates in harsh terms the main points already made by Peking. 7. The note protests alleged "successive serious violations of Chinese territory by Indian troops."
