This afternoon, the Director, briefed the above Subcommittee on Soviet and Chinese strategic weapons advances and Soviet actions under SALT I treaty and agreement. The meeting lasted from 1505 hours until 1710 hours. F- I 25X1 I I A transcript was taken and a copy is on file in the Office of Legislative Counsel. Discussions included Top Secret Sensitive material. Edmund S. Muskie (D., Maine), Chairman Gale W. McGee (D. , Wyo. ) Hubert H. Humphrey (D., Minn.) Clifford P. Case (R., N. J. ) James B. Pearson (R., Kan.) George D. Aiken (R. , Vt.) Charles H. Percy (R. , Ill.) Stuart Symington (D. , Mo.) 4. Present from the Subcommittee staff were: Pat Holt, Chief of Staff, full Committee Robert H. The Director followed his prepared text covering it in its entirety (not the back-up material). A number of questions were asked during and after the briefing and it seemed to be very favorably received by the Members. 7. Senator Humphrey, who arrived quite late for the briefing, remained and chatted at some length on a variety of topics and expressed an interest in coming to the Agency for further briefings sometime in the near future. We told him we would be happy to receive him anytime and I asked him to have his office give me a call to let us know when it would be convenient. 5.
