Totals for Badger A include bombers, tankers, reconnaissance variants, and about 15 aircraft used in ASW operations. 2/. The status of the Blinder re-equipment program is uncertain. It is possible that production may end in the next year or so, resulting in an order of battle along the low side of the projection. In this case the USSR might choose to develop a new medium bomber/ASM-carrier system. Such an aircraft could be introduced in the 1972-1975 period, but in any case the total number of medium bombers is not expected to exceed the totals shown in the projections. 3/. The Mail twin turboprop seaplane and possibly a new ASW aircraft. 2. Hound and possibly a follow-on.
