The minutes for the 30 March, 3 April, and 9 April 1956 meetings were approved as amended. ITEM 2 - NIE 11-6-56 2. The Committee reviewed and revised'a draft of the guided Missile Intelligence Committee (GMIC) contribution to NIE 1i-6-56. The Committee approved the corrected draft for submission to the Scientific Estimates Committee (SEC) by 1 May 1956. Approved For Release 2000/08/29 :&[a F 0961 A000100020004-1 Approved For Relea2000/08/29 4AD00100020004-1 SECRE ITEM 3 - NIE 11-5-56 25X1A 3. alternate CIA member, requested support from the Committee in obtaining initial and operating costs on U.S. Navy guided missiles in order to complete PART THREE, I A-E of NIE 11-5-56. 4. The Committee confirmed and endorsed the urgent need for initial and operating costs on the following U.S. Navy missiles; Regulus, Terrier, Sidewinder, Talos, Petrel, and Sparrow I. 5. CIA will make a formal request to the Navy for the required information. ITEM 4+ 25X1 D 7. The Chairman has forwarded a reply to the Chairman, Joint Technical Intelligence Subcommittee (JTIS) regarding this project with Committee approval. Collection of Guided Missile Intelligence Data 8. The Chairman reported that the Air Force has plans in progress for the collection of additional intelligence information by electronic means. These plans are in general consonance with the CIA member?s request to the Committee for action. ITEM 5 - 9. The Chairman will arrange a briefing for the Committee by the Air Force regarding special collection programs planned and in progress. ITEM 6 - Soviet Cruiser Visit on Great Britian 10. Lieut. Gilbert H. Barker, Navy member, reported that the Soviet cruiser visiting Great Britian is under surveillance.
