ITEM 1 - Approval of Minutes
1. The draft minutes of the 23 April 1956 meeting were approved
as amended.
ITEM 2 - ELINT Collection Program - Army Briefing
2. Lt. Col. Beverly T. Richardson, Army, briefed the Committee
on the ELINT collection effort of the. Signal Corps and the Army
Security Agency (ASA).

ITEM 3 - Defense Missile System Effectiveness - Air Force Briefing
3. Mr. William Laxson, ATIC, briefed the Committee on the effec-
tiveness of a hypothetical defense missile system based, in part, on
information available on the Moscow sites.
ITEM 4 - Special Collection Methods.- Air Force Briefing
4. Lt. Col. George M. Adkins, USAF, discussed the status of a
USAF development program which has considerable guided missile intelli-
gence collection potential. Supplementary information to Lt. Col. Adkins'
briefing will be provided to the Committee by the Air Force Member,
Lt. Col. George H. Wilson.
. 5. The Committee representatives were requested to report to the
Committee within one month recommending any other effective collection
methods which could be utilized to acquire guided missile intelligence
information. This information will be brought to the attention of
appropriate collection agencies.
ITEM 5 - Changes in Time Schedule for Submission of Contributions to
NIE 11-5-56
6. The Committee approved the Chairman's proposal for changes in
the time schedule for submission of contributions to NIE 11-5-56. The
new schedule reflects a one month delay encountered in the production of
the PART ONE report.
ITEM 6 - Guidance to REG for Interrogation of PB#908 Returnees

7. The Chairman discussed his planned trip to Germany in June
25X1 A accompanied by a member of the GMIC staff. He will
visit the REG center and determine the manner in which GMIC can support
25X1C the REG interrogation of the , which is expected to
return from the USSR in the fall.

the operations of REG at the next meeting.

ITEM 7 - Use of Technical Consultants by GMIC
9. The Committee discussed the use of consultants to assist in
the preparation of national estimates and in the solution of technical
research problems. The discussion was not conclusive and the problem
will be considered again at another meeting.
ITEM 8 - Miscellaneous
10. Swiss Air Show - Navy has decided not to participate in a
US missile displays The USSR has not accepted the Swiss invitation..
to display at this time. A press release will be issued shortly regard-
ing a US missile display.
11. Economic Defense Intelligence Subcommittee - Meeting on
Propellants - Mr. Howard M. Wiedemann, State member, reported that EDIC
was seeking technical guidance on propellants and a technical briefing
would be given in June. When more detailed information becomes available,
the Guided Missile Intelligence Committee (GMIC) will be notified.
12. Guided Missile Nomenclature - The Air Force member distributed
a draft of proposed guided missile nomenclature to be reviewed by the
Committee.
