Moore suggested a briefing of approximately 45 minutes sometime this week. 13.1 LIAISON Spoke with Ben Marshall, Senate SeIect_Go-x rrrritt e n Intelligen t.af#, regarding Committee pant s tJ o clear a staff member of Senator Robert C. Byrd (D., W. Va.) for access to Committee information. I told Marshall the Agency was quite satisfied with the Committee arrangement, whereby each senator had a designee on the Committee staff and no personal staff were briefed on Committee matters, and would be reluctant to see a change in policy. Marshall said that this person in effect would be Senator Byrd's designee but that the idea was not yet final and he had to speak further to Bill Miller, Staff Director, about it. LIAISON Called Bill Miller, 25X1 Staff Director, Senate Select ommi_ttee on Intelligence,_ to seek clarification of a remark ,CH;airman Daniel K. Inouye (D., Hawaii) had made to Mr. Knoche, ?-\./DCI, regarding surveillance of Senate Select Committee on Intelligence members. Miller said the Chairman, during their recent meeting,hacl only mentioned to new members that intelligence agencies had agreed to inform the Committee if we detected any surveillance of Committee members and that the Chairman was probably only reminding Mr. Knoche of this agreement.
