MEMORANDUM FOR CHAIRMAN, USIB
SUBJECT: Inventory of USIB Research Studies
1. This memorandum forwards, in response to your request, an
inventory and report on the current status of research studies concerned
with the collection, production, support or coordination of foreign intel-
ligence, which are being conducted under auspices or direction of the
United States Intelligence Board. This inventory and report indicates the
research studies being done within the USIB structure that are along the
lines of the recent Scientific Intelligence Committee study on "The Course
and Development of Soviet Electromagnetic Radiation Systems to 197211,
which I understand prompted your request.
2. This submission is not intended, of course, to be a comprehensive
report on all of the programs and activities being carried on by the Committees
of the Board. While it gives a full account of Committee projects of a research
nature, it does not cover the continuing work of the various Committees in
such important areas as collection requirements and priorities, current
intelligence analysis, contributions to NIE's, and coordination of other intel-
ligence production, collection, and support efforts.
