1. CIA is participating in the Community On-Line Intelligence
System (COINS) test which began on 1 October 1969 and is scheduled
to terminate on 31 March 1970. COINS is designed to test the
feasibility of and requirements for the interrogation of machine
files in other agencies from a remote terminal (typewriter)
device. COINS participants are CIA, NPIC, DIA, NSA, Department
of State, and the National Indications Center.
2. CIA participates in the COINS network 0800-0900 and
1200-1300 daily. Three remote terminals in the Headquarters
building have been designated for COINS use. They are located
in 1H52, 3F39, and 7F33. A catalog of the files which can be
