MEMORANDUM FOR THE UNITED STATES INTELLIGENCE BOARD
SUBJECT : National Intelligence Survey (NIS)
Production Schedule for FY 1971
REFERENCE: USIB-M-504, 11 April 1968
1. In accordance with the reference, the NIS Committee
submits herewith the NIS Production Schedule for FY 1971.
2. Manpower and budgetary restrictions in DIA and
CIA continue to affect NIS production planning. Except for
Manufacturing and Construction and Electric Power, all
detailed economic sections have been discontinued. Subversion
and Insurgency coverage (formerly Section 57, now discontinued)
will be integrated into the General Survey as Section 9 (Insurgency
Threat) for areas in which there is considered to be a potential
for serious antiregime violence.
3. Production of General Surveys for FY 1971 continues
at 30; however, 93 detailed sections are scheduled, representing
a 31% reduction from that for FY 1970.
