Effective immediately and for the duration`of President Johnson's Far Eastern travels there is established a Presidential Trip Task Force in OCI.. Chief, Orient Divi- 25X1A sion, is named Chief of this task force. 2. The task force is responsible for all intelligence produc- tion in support of the President's trip. Among bther activities, it will: a. Issue memoranda on security conditions in countries to be visited by the President, with particular attention to pend- ing developments that could endanger or otherwise adversely affect the President or his party. These memoranda will be pre- pared by COB on 10, 13 and 16 October and thereafter will be issued daily. b. Issue dailysitreps beginning 17 October. These will cover any Manila Conference-oriented material, such as views and reactions in world capitals, and any developments, par- ticularly in. the Far Eastern area, about which the President and his party should be informed during their travels. 3. Other elements of the office will give all appropriate assistance to the task force. Each Area Chief will designate an officer to act as a controller of information pertaining to the Pres- idential trip and a central contact for the task force, and notify 25X1 A of the designees.
