SUBJECT: Classification and Controls for GIANT REACH
Materials and Derived Information
1. I passed the following information to DIA, 25X1A
in response to his request for guidance from earlier in the morning:
a. This was discussed with the Director
and the guidance was that classification of the GIANT
REACH materials and information would be SECRET
No Foreign, Warning Sensitive Sources and Methods.
b . With respect to his question concerning
release of derived information or film the
DCI will handle passage of information in Wine with
policy established by the White House. It will not
be necessary to include any instructions or other
guidance on this aspect in any alert messages or
instructions sent to the field.
c . The question of releasability of derived
information toffs to be held in abeyance for the
initial materia s an such information as is judged
essential to pass to_will be handled in sanitized
form with the attribution on an ad hoc basis. This
question will be reviewed following the initial mission
if it takes place.
