Approved For Release 2007/09/21 :CIA-RDP79B01594A000100050066-2 1 ~-~ ~ ~~ ~ 3 December 1971 SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION (UNCLASSIFIED) The latest display of the SCROOGE TEL was in the Moscow parade on 7 November 1971. It was located in the Strategic Rocket Forces section of the parade between the SS-13 and SS-9 ICBM's. It has appeared in every Moscow parade since November 1965 when military equipment was shown. The official Soviet statements in TASS, etc. have described the missile as an ICBM operating on solid propellants. Statements made about strategic missiles in the 7 November 1971 parade were general in nature, with no specific reference to SCROOGE. The following statements were made about SCROOGE and mobile missiles in general in earlier parades: --November 1965, "...missiles operating on solid fuel, including intercontinental missiles on self-propelled tracked launching installations of great reliability. Strategic missiles on mobile launching installations are particularly effective. On the square, among other rockets, we see certain types of such new weapons--solid-fuel intercontinental and intermediate range rockets on self-propelled launchers. No other army in the world has such mobile launchers." --November 1967, "The Red Square has now been entered by strategic rocket troops. ...similar self-propelled launchers with great maneuverability are also seen among the intercontinental rockets. The self-propelled strategic rockets are constantly changing their position. They practically cannot be detected or destroyed...."
