SUBJECT: Progress on Digital Image Manipulation (DIM) Input/Output (I/0)
System

Manipulation
Optics/ORD/DDS&T, traveled to
to determine the progress on the Digital Image
(DIM) Input Output System. In a telephone conversation with
ATB/ITL, the following day, reported that
the delivery date of this system to NPIC has slipped to @ 15 June 1970.
The previous delivery date was 1 June.
2. Components of the DIM I/O System performed very satisfactorily
according to He reported that the input device (formerly
called the high speed IDT) is functioning very well and is due to be
interfaced with the data disk soon for a complete performance testing.
To date, the data disk and the magnetic tape transport have been evaluated
by means of the ASR-33 Teletype and the Honeywell DDP-416 computer. Soft-
ware programs written for the DDP-416 computer are continuing to be debugged.
3. The hard copy system tests have continued with several types of
films. These tests are designed to determine contrast and brightness levels
as well as film type and processing techniques.
