SUBJECT: Proposed Folio on Communist China
DATE: 2 September 1966
1. The attached memorandum lists pertinent information on the
format and content of the proposed folio of maps on Communist China.
2. The status of the project as of this date is as follows:
a. The cover stock, Holly Red on Spanish embossed surface,
has been selected and PSD requested to order.
b. The Defense Intelligence Agency is in the process of
updating transportation on regional maps. (South China sheet has
been completed.)
c. Orientation Globe (Map #2). This is planned to be a
full color airbrush rendition, as of now in the planning stage.
d. General map with terrain (Map #3).. This map is the
NIS Standard Base and will need only slight modifications before
printing. This base will be used for maps 9 through 19 but without
terrain shading
e. The regional maps will be modifications of NIS Chapter II
bases segmented from the overall China Wall Map. Production of the
regional maps and Chapter II bases is progressing simultaneously.
South China has been compiled and is in drafting; all others are in
compilation awaiting DIA road and railroad data.
f. The Map Library has delivered the general source maps
requested by CD/F for use in planning maps 11 through 19.
g. Commitments of support have been received ;Tom the
