Produce, on the basis of intensive research, current analysis and interagency contribution, comprel*nsive coordinated studies (as distinguished from National Intelligence Estimates) of major foreign developments which bear on-US national security. c. Produce on the basis of intensive interdepartmental research such basic studies as are involved in the NIS program. d. Prepare recommendations to the Director of Central Intelligence for action needed to resolve problems of inadequacies in intelligence research facilities, and allocations of production and collection responsibilities throughout the govenental intelligence structure, b. Continuously assess the adequacy, accuracy, and timelessness of incoming information and intelligence relating to the intelligence production responsibilities of the Office of Research and Reports for the purposes listed in paragraphs c, d, and a below. aQ Formulate and establish rectuirements for action by appropriate collection and source exploitation agencies of the Governmentq d, Prepare and provide for use by field collection agencies of the Central Intelligence Agency, and, where appropriate, other governmental collection agencies, such evaluations of information reports and appraisals of source potential as may be needed to guide field collection personnel. e? Provide substantive guidance and direction to collection, source exploitation and production agencies of the Government and supply them with periodic appraisals of their efforts in support of foreign Intel-, ligence research'renuirements0 f.
