A penetration affecting the weekly roundup from Saigon. b. A security case involving a secretarial position in 0/CI. 2. Suggested to Mr. Sheldon, AD/CI, that we have a special article in the CIR on the contrasting positions of India and Pakistan in the East-West struggle. 3. Chatted with the Director and Adm. Dennison, during the visit with Mr. Adams representing the Senate Small Business Committee, respecting CIA recommendations on the FTC Petroleum Report. 25X1A5a1 li.. Respecting visit to Turkey, spoke with Gen. Canine and Mr. Dulles. Canine did not conduct a briefing of but requested to insure that his interest was protected. 25X1A9a 5. Attended PRC meeting. 6. Made arrangements with Messrs. Sheldon and Kent for 0/NE/O/CI collaboration in preparation of the Director's briefing book for next Tuesday. 25X1A9a I25X1A5a1 7. Undertook to make an appointment for with the 25X1A5a1 DCI on Thursday next, and also arranged to have luncheon with and 25X1A5a1 Wisner on that day. 8. Consulted with Mr. Fisher, legal adviser to the State Depart- ment, and his assistant, Mr. Longanecker, respecting deletions which State would recommend in the FTC-Report on Petroleum. 9. Confirmed with a representative of Gen. Walsh (Col. Gresham) that we would hold up on a Progress Report to the NSC respecting the summary evaluation of US vulnerability to Soviet attack, until we had heard from Gen. Walsh or Gen. Samford. Chatted with who applied for a position with CIA. I suggested that he fill out forms and we would post his papers. 25X1A5a1 has had extensive experience in the Far East. 12. Explained to the DCI my reason for pressing that 25X1A5a1 be appointed acting chairman of the Watch Committee, rather than permanen chairman. Informed the DCI that we should take a good look at Gen. Willems, before determining upon a permanent chairman. 13. Informed the DCI that a representative of the American bil Company negotiating with Iran would probably visit Washington during the week of August 11th in order to consult with the State Department.
