At the morning meeting reported that everything was set for the transmission of daily intelligence reports to President-elect Eisenhower and that Mr. Sheldon and I favored as liason officer at 25X1 A9a Eisenhower's Headquarters after his return from Korea. 2. Also reported, basis of incoming cable, rather alarm- 25X1A6c ing indications in the immediate future in Indonesia. 25X1A5a1 3. Referred to - paper discussed with the Director by Mr. Becker and stated that (1) Gen. Samford had undertaken to handle this matter; (2) in view of this fact, no further action appeared necessary on our part. The DCI approved. 25X1A9a 4. 'Discussed with attitude we should take on this 25X1A9a selection panel question at the Career Service Board, 19 November. He is in agreement with me that panel should have right to review both positive and negative decisions by the Administrative Offices. 5. Attended briefing for Mr. Dulles by prior to Senior Staff Meeting, also attended Senior Staff Meeting. Re Iran, Department of Justice Representative Jacobs expressed the opinion that the Anti-Trust Division would be in a position to clear a proper arrangement for co-operative action in Iran by oil companies within forty-eight hours. De- fense Department continued to press for decisive action thought approving the paper as written with minor changes. In the course of the discussion 25X1A9a said that cost of the loss of Iran would be measured in billions of dollars as compared with a few hundred millions needed to save present regime. 25X1A9a 6. Conferred with Sheldon on security violations in O/RR section of special center and on further arrangements for liason with Eisenhower.
