2. Determination of the extent of the current summer floods in China
(especially the Yangtze, Huai and Yellow Rivers). Analysis is to
include consideration of flood damage, success or failure of Chinese
Communist flood control projects, propaganda implications of flood
control work and rehabilitation work, and effect on transportation.
The project is to be a continuing one, with reports to be submitted
periodically but on an ad hoc basis until flooding subsides
(probably October or November). Further flood information may be
requested through the flood season of 1955 (to be decided later).
At the end of the current flood season, a final report is requested
which will summarize the findings and analysis of the periodic reports..
