SIGNIFICANCE: THIS BRIEFING BOARD DEPICTS A NEWLY-IDENTIFIED BARRACKS/STORAGE P. AREA IN NORTH VIETNAM. LOCATION: THE AREA IS LOCATED 0.9 NM SOUTH-SOUTHWEST OF CHIENG SAN TO, IN THE VICINITY OF UTM VJ697054, AND IMMEDIATELY NORTH OF ROUTE 6. 3. MISSION READOUT: BARRACKS AND STORAGE AREA CONSISTING OF 21 BARRACKS/STORAGE BUILDINGS, AT LEAST 123 STORAGE/SUPPORT BUILDINGS, AND AT LEAST 127 PILES OF UNIDENTIFIED MATERIAL IN OPEN STORAGE. THE AREA IS APPARENTLY ASSOCIATED WITH AGRICULTURAL ACTIVITY WHICH IS EXTENSIVE IN THIS VICINITY, AND THIS MATERIAL IN OPEN STORAGE PROBABLY CONSISTS OF HARVESTED CROPS. ATTEMPTS HAVE BEEN MADE TO CAMOUFLAGE MANY OF THE BUILDINGS. NUMEROUS VEHICLE AND STORAGE REVETMENTS AND PERSONNEL TRENCHES ARE SCATTERED THROUGHOUT THE AREA, IN WHICH EVIDENCE OF TRACK ACTIVITY IS HEAVY. BAN CHIENG DI BARRACKS/STORAGE AREA LOCATED ON THE NORTH EDGE OF THE VILLAGE OF BAN CHIENG DI (UTM VJ700008) ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF ROUTE 6 CONSISTS OF AT LEAST 151 BARRACKS/STORAGE BUILDINGS, AT LEAST 552 PILES OF UNIDENTIFIED MATERIAL IN OPEN STORAGE (PROBABLY HARVESTED CROPS), AND 10 CARGO TRUCKS LOCATED IN TWO SEPARATE TRUCK PARKS. ATTEMPTS HAVE BEEN MADE TO CAMOUFLAGE THE BUILDINGS. NUMEROUS VEHICLE AND STORAGE REVETMENTS AND PERSONNEL TRENCHES ARE SCATTERED THROUGHOUT THE AREA AND TRACK ACTIVITY IS HEAVY.
