SIGNIFICANCE: THIS BRIEFING BOARD DEPICTS A CABLE BRIDGE AND A POSSIBLE CABLE BRIDGE IN THE HA NOI AREA OF NORTH VIETNAM. 2. LOCATION: THE CABLE BRIDGE IS LOCATED FIVE NM WEST OF HA NOI AT 2102N 10545E (UTM WJ792261). THE POSSIBLE CABLE BRIDGE IS LOCATED 300 YARDS SOUTH OF THE ABOVE-MENTIONED BRIDGE AT 2101N 10545E (UTM WJ792256). 3. REMARKS: THE COMPARISON OF DAY AND NIGHT PHOTOGRAPHY OF THE XOM CA TRANG HIGHWAY BRIDGE OVER THE RAO CAI (RIVER) IN NORTH VIETNAM REVEALED THE USE BY THE NORTH VIETNAMESE OF A DECEPTIVE TECHNIQUE WHEREBY AN APPARENTLY UNSERVICEABLE BRIDGE WAS MADE SERVICEABLE BY THE IMPLEMENTATION OF CABLES AND REMOVABLE SECTIONS OF BRIDGE DECKING. 4. MISSION READOUT: 10545E ACROSS THE SONG NHUE GIANG (CANAL) CONSISTING OF TWO TAUT CABLES. DECKING IS IN PLACE ADJACENT TO THE WESTERN BANK. ABANDONED ANCHORAGE CONSTRUCTION IS OBSERVED JUST SOUTH OF THE BRIDGE ON THE EAST BANK. These notes have been prepared for briefing purposes only and should not be used for detailed analytical work. A POSSIBLE VEHICULAR CABLE BRIDGE IS LOCATED 300 YARDS SOUTH OF THE FIRST CABLE BRIDGE. THE BRIDGE HAS COMPLETE DECKING, HOWEVER, CABLES ARE NOT VISIBLE. A ZIL-130 TRUCK IS OBSERVED JUST SOUTH OF THE WESTERN APPROACH TO THE BRIDGE. ALSO NOTED IS OPEN POL DRUM STORAGE LOCATED 200 YARDS SOUTH OF THE BRIDGE.
