1. SIGNIFICANCE:
THIS BRIEFING BOARD DEPICTS ROAD REPAIR ACTIVITIES ALONG A PORTION
OF NORTH VIETNAM ROUTE 137.
2. REMARKS.:
ROUTE 137, THE NORTH VIETNAMESE PORTION OF THE NEW ROAD WHICH
CONNECTS NORTH VIETNAM ROUTE 101 WITH LAOS ROUTE 911, PROVIDES A THIRD
ACCESS INTO THE LAOTIAN PANHANDLE FOR COMMUNIST FORCES AND SUPPLIES,
THE EFFORTS TO CONCEAL~CAMOUFLAGE PORTIONS OF ROUTE 137, AS WELL AS
THE MILITARY ACTIVITY OBSERVID ALONG THIS ROUTE (DEFENDED VILLAGES,
AW~AA POSITIONS, AND PERSONNEL TRENCHES), ATTEST TO THE IMPORTANCE
OF THIS ROAD TO PL~NVA FORCES.
STRIKE DATA REPORTS THAT ROUTE 137 HAS BEEN SUBJECTED TO SEVERAL
AIR STRIKES.
