SIGNIFICANCE: THIS BRIEFING BOARD DEPICTS THE CONTINUING HIGH LEVEL OF ACTIVITY AT PHUC YEN AIRFIELD, THE MOST ACTIVE MILITARY AIRFIELD IN NORTH VIETNAM. 2. LOCATION: THE AIRFIELD IS LOCATED 5.8 NM EAST-SOUTHEAST OF PHUC YEN AND 12 PHOTOGRAPHY OF BLUE SPRINGS REVEALS PHUC YEN AIRFIELD TO CONSIST OF A 9150 X 220 FT, WNW/ESE, SERVICEABLE CONCRETE RUNWAY WITH 1200 FT OVERRUNS. FACILITIES INCLUDE A PARALLEL TAXIWAY WITH TWO END-CONNECTING AND THREE CROSSOVER LINKS, TWO PARKING APRONS 1600 FT LONG (ONE AT EACH END OF THE RUNWAY), GCA FACILITIES, ILS, AND MARKER BEACONS. A HOUSING/SUPPORT AREA IMMEDIATELY NORTH OF THE RUNWAY CONTAINS APPROXIMATELY FIFTY BARRACKS, ONE HUNDRED STORAGE/SUPPORT BUILDINGS, A HANGAR, A CONTROL TOWER, AND AN OPERATIONS BUILDING. AN AIRCRAFT REVETMENT AREA AT THE ESE END OF THE RUNWAY CONTAINS EIGHT REVETMENTS, AND A SIMILAR AREA AT THE WNW END CONTAINS SIX NGA Review Complete These notes have been prepared for briefing purposes only and should not be used for detailed analytical work. A SECURED POL AREA WITH A LOOP SERVICE ROAD APPROXIMATELY 5000 FT NORTH-NORTHWEST OF THE RUNWAY CENTER CONTAINS SIX BURIED POL TANKS.
