SIGNIFICANCE: THIS BRIEFING BOARD DEPICTS A FIELD DEPLOYED SA-2 SAM SITE NEAR HA NOT, THE ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTEENTH SITE TO BE IDENTIFIED IN NORTH VIETNAM. 2. LOCATION: THE SITE IS LOCATED 10.6 NM SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF HA NOI AND 4.4 NM SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF HA NOI SAM SITE B17-21 WHICH WAS THE FIRST SITE TO BE IDENTIFIED IN NORTH VIETNAM. 3. REMARKS: THIS IS THE THIRD FIELD DEPLOYED SA-2 SAM SITE TO BE IDENTIFIED IN THE HA NOI AREA. 4. BACKGROUND: ]THE FIRST SAM SITE IN NORTH VIETNAM WAS OBSERVED ON PHOTOGRAPHY. THROUGH THE REMAINDER OF 1965 THE NUMBER OF SITES INCREASED TO SIXTY-FOUR. SITES 65 THROUGH 93 WERE FIRST OBSERVED IN FEBRUARY 1966, SITES 94 THROUGH 100 IN MARCH 1966, SITE 101 IN APRIL 1966, SITES 102 THROUGH 110 IN MAY 1966, SITES 111 THROUGH 115 IN JUNE 1966, AND SITES 116 THROUGH 118 IN JULY 1966. SITES 10, 18, 20, 36, 49, AND 50 HAVE BEEN ABANDONED DURING THIS FIFTEEN-MONTH TIME SPAN, BRINGING THE TOTAL NUMBER OF KNOWN SAM SITES IN NORTH VIETNAM TO ONE HUNDRED AND TWELVE.
