SIGNIFICANCE: THIS BRIEFING BOARD DEPICTS THE EFFECT OF THE SUMMER MONSOON ON A PORTION OF ROUTE 96, LAOS. 2E LOCATION: THE SEGMENT OF ROUTE 96 DEPICTED ON THIS GRAPHIC IS LOCATED SIX NM NORTHWEST OF CHAVANE AND TWENTY-NINE NM SOUTHEAST OF BAN BAC. 3. MISSION READOUT: REVEALS ROUTE 96 TO BE UNSERVICEABLE TO VEHICULAR ACTIVITY AT 1525N 10700E. LANDSLIDES HAVE CLOSED APPROXI- MATELY 300 YARDS OF THE ROAD FROM UTM YC14go62 TO UTM YC14g065. IN ADDI- TION, THE EMBANKMENT OF THE ROAD AT UTM YC147o69 HAS COLLAPSED, CLOSING THE ROAD TO VEHICLES. A WELL-USED FOOT TRAIL FOLLOWS THE ALIGNMENT OF THE ROAD, CROSSING THE LANDSLIDE AREAS.
