SIGNIFICANCE: THIS BRIEFING BOARD REVEALS THE DEVELOPMENT.OF A SECTION OF A NEW ROAD IN CAMBODIA. 2. LOCATION: THE SECTION OF THE ROAD DEPICTED ON THIS GRAPHIC IS LOCATED 4.5 NM NORTH OF SIEM PANG ON THE EAST BANK OF THE TONLE KONG (RIVER),.KNOWN AS THE SE KONG IN LAOS. 3. BACKGROUND/COLLATERAL: THIS BRIEFING BOARD, WHEN USED IN CONJUNCTION WITH NPIC BRIEFING BOARDS K-7520, K-7579, K-7580, L-1022, L-1026, AND L-1037, DEPICTS NORTH AND NORTHEAST, ALONG THE EAST BANK OF THE TONLE KONG, FROM CAMBODIA ROUTE 15 TO THE CAMBODIA/LAOS BORDER. THE ROAD, DESIGNATED AS ROUTE 110 IN LAOS, EXTENDS NORTH AND EAST TO LAOS ROUTE 96, AND THEN SOUTHEAST TO ITS TERMINUS 1.5 NM NORTH OF THE CAMBODIA BORDER, NEAR THE TRI-BORDER AREA OF LAOS, CAMBODIA, AND SOUTH VIETNAM. THIS ROAD SYSTEM, SOMETIMES REFERRED TO AS THE "SIHANOUK TRAIL", WAS FIRST OBSERVED UNDER CONSTRUCTION NORTH OF SIEM PANG, CAMBODIA, ON PHOTOGRAPHY OF DECEMBER 1965. NO EVIDENCE OF ANY ROAD OR CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY IS PRESENT. REVEALS A ROAD EXTENDING NORTH AND SOUTH NEAR THE EAST BANK OF THE TONLE KONG. THE SOUTHERN EXTENSION OF THE ROAD DISAPPEARS UNDER THE HEAVY TREE CANOPY SOUTH OF THE SMALL VILLAGE. A NEWLY CONSTRUCTED WOODEN DECK-TYPE BRIDGE IS OBSERVED.
