Approved For Release 2000/08/31 : CIA-RDP79-00498A000700120007-4 i is AII ITATIE INTERNAL IE fJ V 26 August 1976 MEMORANDUM FOR: Deputy Director for Administration SUBJECT Cooperation between the DCI Security Staff and the Operations Center REFERENCE Your DDA 76-4223, dated 23 August 1976 1. I have your Memorandum for the Record regarding the matter of information coordination and completely agree with its theme, particularly since it appears that Agency aircraft will be getting even more use in the future. I have only one point that concerns me, though it is largely semantical. In paragraph 3 where you summarize the essentiality of cooperation between ourselves and the Security people you use the abbre- viation "SDO" to mean the Security Duty Officer which is the same abbreviation we use for our Senior Duty Officer. This is a long standing and well known abbreviation frequently used by the Agency's substantive analysts and senior officials when referring to ray "point man" in the Operations Center. Thus, I fear confusion will arise if we both continue to use the same letters. 2. I have no ready solution except to suggest that in abbreviating the Security Duty Officer you might want to use something like SECDO. I fear ours is too ingrained to change.
