Blake Deputy Director for Administration SUBJECT : Support to the Agency Military Reserve Component 1. As you know, my office is responsible for monitoring the Agency's military reserve component. During the training year, the unit holds weekly meetings on Monday evenings in the Auditorium. It is not unusual for the unit to sponsor guest speakers of high rank from both the diplomatic and military departments in the Washington Area. We do not fund for support to the unit other than for personnel and services, and the unit must therefore depend upon the cooperation of many Agency components throughout the training year for whatever assistance it needs. 2. One form of presentation - film - is undergoing technical changes. In the past, all film programs were in 16mm format and could thus be projected on equipment readily available in the Auditorium. Currently, many films are being produced in the video cassette format and this is especially true of programs obtained from DOD sources. It has been brought to my attention that the only equipment now available for projecting video cassettes in the Auditorium is controlled by CRS. 3. The military reserve program is a vital one and one which has been supported by this Agency and the military departments for many years. I am therefore asking for your cooperation to support the unit on those infrequent occasions when the need arises to project video cassettes and with the understanding that your primary functions will take precedence if a conflict should arise.
