MEMORANDUM FOR THE RECORD
SUBJECT: Justification for a Computer Program or a Machine Run to
Complete a PRS Special. Study on the Backup Group
1. The data requested in paragraph 2 is needed in order to complete
a special study to determine the adequacy of the backup group to fulfill
future Agency manpower needs created by retirements over the period 1966-
1976. This special study was requested by Mr. Bannerman on 16 September
1966 during the PRS briefing of the DD/S.
2. The items desired are the same as those found in Job #177: name,
type, schedule, grade, service designation, organization, date of birth,
service computation date, longevity computation date, Headquarters. If
perimeters of Job #177 could be extended to include the new retirement
combinations of 55-30, 60-20, and all Agency employees 35 years of age and
older, the data required would be presented in the most desirable format.
3. The necessary data could also be 'obtained by adding to the exist-
ing Job E.A.M. #17 name and organization. But, in order to make this data
completely useable, an additional 80 to 120 manhours of manual sorting
would be required.
4. In order to meet deadlines, this data is needed by PRS/OP on or
before 15 December 1966.
