Approved For Reieas 2001/08/07 : Cl GORGI 135A000100010018- Civil Service Retirements for the next decade in CIA. Approved For Release 2001/08/07: CIA-RDltg,% "r ~AOOd 100010018-1 dawr,-rading and Erc:a?:If!trt~^u Approved For Release 2001/08/07 : CIA-00235A0001 0010018-1 Introduction: The study of projected retirement attrition based on the Civil Service Commission Retirement System has been completed. In the study the numbers of GS employees eligor retirement and the numbers anticipated to retire WW during the next ten years 1966-1976 are defined. The number of employees anticipated to retire include only those who will hit the wall of the Agency's present policy of retirement based on age 60 or 62 depending on the years of service one has completed. No attempt was made to make a prediction based solely on the CIA Retirement System, however in doing the research for the CSC study it was discovered that 145 of the anticipated retirees could qualify and would retire under the CIA Retirement System rather than the CSC System because of the larger annuity. The 145 CIA retirees will not affect the overall total of anticipated retirements, because they meet the mandatory age of 60 or 62 and would have retired under CSC otherwise. The anticipated retire- ments will be modified to the extent that employees eligible for retirement opt to retire before the mandatory age of 60 or 62. Data for making a prediction as to the numbers who would opt at age 50, if qualified for the CIA System is not available at this time. At the present time a detailed study is being made of the back up group. It is hoped through this study to be able to determine the quantity and quality of the group of employees available to fill the predicted retirement vacancies.
