IN WESTERN ALGERIA, APPROXIMATELY 14 NM SE OF THE
DISPUTED MOROCCAN/ALGERIAN BORDER AT 2742N-0808W.
FOLLOWING AN ARMED CONFLICT BETWEEN ALGERIA AND
MOROCCO OVER THE DISPUTED AREA IN OCTOBER OF 1963,
ALGERIA EMBARKED UPON AN EXTENSIVE MILITARY BUILD-UP
WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF THE SOVIET UNION. INCLUDED
IN THE ALGERIAN INVENTORY OF SOVIET EQUIPMENT ARE
MEDIUM TANKS, SP GUNS, BEAGLE BOMBERS, MIG AIRCRAFT,
AND KOMAR BOATS. (SECRET
