SOLID PROPELLANT PRODUCTION FACILITY
TAI-YUAN, CHINA
THIS FACILITY INCLUDES NITROGLYCERINE,
NITROCELLULOSE AND DOUBLE BASE PROCESSING LINES
SIMILAR TO THOSE AT THE SOLID PROPELLANT
FACILITIES IN THE USSR LOCATED AT BIYSK, PERM,
KRASNOYARSK, STERLITAMAK AND KAMENSK-SHAKHTINSKIY.
THE NEARLY OPERATIONAL STATUS OF THE SECOND
NITRATOR LINE WILL PRACTICALLY DOUBLE THE AMOUNT
OF PROPELLANT THE PLANT CAN PRODUCE. THE NEW
EXTRUSION AND GRAIN PROCESSING SITES WILL GREATLY
EXPAND THE FACILITY'S FINAL PRODUCT CAPABILITY,

CLOSE TO BEING OPERATIONAL. CONSTRUCTION APPEARS TO BE AT A STANDSTILL
ON THE THIRD NITRATOR LINE, POSSIBLY DUE TO THE HEAVY CONSTRUCTION
GOING ON ELSEWHERE IN THE FACILITY. A NEW POSSIBLE NITROGLYCERINE
RECOVERY UNIT OR SLUMP HOUSE HAS BEEN CONSTRUCTED DUE EAST OF THE SECOND
NITRATOR LINE. DIRECTLY EAST OF THE THIRD NITRATOR LINE, 2 REVETTED
PROBABLE EXTRUSION BUILDINGS APPEAR NEARLY COMPLETE. TWO MORE ARE IN
THE MID-STAGE OF CONSTRUCTION. THE PREVIOUSLY COMPLETED REVETTED STRUCTURE
IN THE NE CORNER OF THE FACILITY APPEARS TO BE FOR THE PURPOSE OF FINAL
GRAIN PROCESSING (I.E. GRAIN TRIM, SOLVENT, AND INHIBITOR APPLICATION).
TWO NEW REVETTED STRUCTURES HAVE BEEN COMPLETED DUE NORTH OF THE GRAIN
PROCESSING BUILDING. THESE BUILDINGS MAY SERVE AS STORAGE/PROCESSING
SITES. CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY, GRADING, AND TRENCHING, POSSIBLY FOR STEAM
