SIGNIFICANCE: FIVE "GANEF" MISSILES ARE OBSERVED.
2. REMARKS:

WITHIN THE CONFINES OF THIS AREA ARE 86 BUILD-
INGS., 3 OF WHICH ARE IDENTIFIED AS SCHOOLS AND
ARE SEPARATELY SECURED. NO SIGNIFICANT CHANGE
HAS OCCURRED SINCE THE INSTALLATION WAS FIRST
REPORTED IN 1962.
THE "GANEF" MISSILE WAS FIRST OBSERVED
IN THE 1964 MOSCOW MAY DAY PARADE. IT IS CON-
SIDERED TO BE A SURFACE-TO-AIR MISSILE., MOUNTED
IN PAIRS ON A TRACKED TRANSPORTER/LAUNCHER. THE
MISSILE IS PARALLEL-STAGED AND AERODYNAMICALLY
CONTROLLED. IT EMPLOYS 4 STRAP-ON SOLID PROPELLANT
ROCKET MOTORS EQUALLY SPACED AROUND THE SUSTAINER
FOR THE BOOST STAGE AND A RAMJET ENGINE FOR SU-
STAINER STAGE.
