Approved For Release 2007/02/12 : CIA-RDP78TO5929AO01800010008-3 TOP SECRET PRESIDENT NASIR OF EGYPT AND KING FAYSAL OF SAUDI ARABIA MET AT JUDDAH, SAUDI ARABIA IN AUG 65 IN AN ATTEMPT TO END THE THREE YEAR OLD YEMEN WAR. THE MEETING RESULTED IN THE SIGNING OF THE JUDDAH AGREEMENT ON 24 AUG 65 WHICH CALLED FOR A CEASE FIRE BY 23 NOV 65, THE EGYPTIAN WITHDRAWAL OF HER FORCES FROM YEMEN BY 23 SEP 66, AND THE CESSATION OF MILITARY ASSISTANCE TO THE ROYALISTS BY SAUDI ARABIA. THE AGREEMENT ALSO PROVIDED FOR A CONFERENCE TO ESTABLISH A PROVISIONAL GOVERNMENT WHICH WOULD RULE UNTIL A PLEBISCITE COULD BE HELD.
