SIGNIFICANCE: INITIAL IDENTIFICATION OF A BACK-TO-BACK RADAR MOUNTED ON THE EASTERNMOST "BEER CAN". THIS RADAR IS SIMILAR TO THE 2 OBSERVED AT ELEC- TRONICS SITE "C" OF LAUNCH COMPLEX "A", SARY- SHAGAN ANTIMISSILE TEST CENTER (SSATC). FIVE OTHER ELEVATED PLATFORMS, DESIGNATED "BEER CAN", HAVE BEEN OBSERVED IN THE USSR -- 2 EACH AT THE LENINGRAD NORTHWEST AND SOUTHWEST PROB- ABLE LONG RANGE SAM LAUNCH COMPLEXES, AND 1 UNDER CONSTRUCTION NEAR VERKHNYAYA SALDA. TO DATE, NO RADARS HAVE BEEN OBSERVED ON THESE "BEER CAN" PLATFORMS.
