These units are capable of establishing GCI/AW/EW radar sites, activating air traffic control (ATC) procedures, and providing additional communication channels for contingency airfields. Unlike EW units subordinate to ground armies, AC&W units contain R-820 Series radio trucks (in lieu of R-122), mobile airfield GSE, and TWIN PLATE (R-410) troposcatter stations.
