The available photo coverage was limited to the northern sector of the town and was dated The enclosed annotated map was designed to give more positive location to terrain and cultural features than that provided by current maps. Relocation of the railroad and facilities was of primary concern. The numbered facilities listed below correspond to the annotations on the map: 1. Ceramics Plant A compact group of buildings occupy an area 840' x 600' at its widest point. Eighteen rectangular buildings, 15 feet wide, vary in length from 125 to 300 feet. Other facilities include a furnace house, with smokestack, and a smaller building with a conveyor to the adjoining stockpile area. 2. Fuel Storage Area There are nine small tanks, feet in diameter, enclosed by a fence. These are situated in a larger walled area, approximately 670' x 385', with several small buildings. The area is served by a rail spur. 3. Fuel Storage There is one fuel storage tank, approximately in 25X1D diameter, and three small buildings enclosed by a fence. 25X1D 25X1D 25X1D Approved For Release 2001/08/13 : CIA-RDP78T05694A000300010019-5 -SECRET SECRET Approved For Release 2001/08/13 : CIA-RDP78T05694A000300010019-5 L. Storage and Assembly Area This is an open storage area enclosed by a fence or wall, approximately 51.0 x 150'. One small warehouse type structure is found within the enclosure. There is a probable light assembly site adjacent to the storage area. Five buildings are enclosed in 25X1D a rectangular area 57 Probable Light Manufacturing A small enclosed industrial site, has a boiler 25X1D house connected by pipes or conveyors to two adjacent buildings. There are four other buildings within the compound. The compound does not appear to be served by a rail spur although it is situated close to rail sidings. A power plant had been reported in this area. 6. Storage Area Small fenced enclosures adjoin the marshalling yard. A number of small buildings are within each area. These are probably used for storage. 7. Light Industry The available photography covers only a portion of the installation. Seventeen rectangular buildings are visible. Three 25X1D of these buildings measure and 14 buildings are 15 feet wide and from 115 to 300 feet long. The installation is quite similar to the nearby ceramics plant. S. Construction Area A probable barracks area was under construction here. One 25X1D building, and about 30 smaller buildings, were in the Approved For Release 2001/0863: CIA-RDP78T05694A000300010019-5 SECRET SECRET Approved For Release 2001/08/13 : CIA-RDP78T05694A000300010019-5 area. Foundations appear to be laid for 30 or 40 additional small buildings. 9. Light Industry An area 660' x 500' is enclosed by a fence. Several other fenced areas are within the installation. A boiler house, 90' x is connected by pipes to three nearby buildings. The build- 25X1D ings measure There are also 12 smaller buildings of various sizes. The area is served by a rail spur. 10. Unidentified. Industry This probable light industry consists of several fenced enclosures, a few warehouse type structures, and many small build- ings. The area may be a part of the facilities at Number 9. 11. Water Tower 12. Fuel Storage Area There are 11 fuel storage tanks, each approximately.' feet in diameter, in an area served by four rail spurs. Three warehouse type structures, two of them and one are located near the rail spurs. 13. Construction Area 25X1D :our structures, were under construction. These may be designed for some type of manufacturing or possibly for rail- road rolling stock repair. 14. Walled Compound This area may be a prison or military headquarters. Numer- ous small buildings are found nearby. 25X1D _3- Approved For Release 2001/08/13 : CIA-RDP78T05694A000300010019-5 SECRET 25X1D 25X1D 25X1D SECRET Approved For Release 2001/08/13 : CIA-RDP78T05694A000300010019-5 15, Unidentified Installation This is a wailed compound 230 feet square. It may possibly furnish some type of power or fuel for the installation at number 16. i6. Unidentified Industry The area is located approximately five miles east of Ural'sk, It is served by a. rail spur running from the main line at Ural'sk. It is aiso 1,200 feet west of a. navigable portion of the Ural River. A fence or mall encloses the main facilities which cover an area of approximately 665,000 square feet. 25X1D A boiler house, has a high, rounded roof along one side. A steam pipe or conveyor connects the boiler house to a 25X1D multi?storied structure, A special structure, 35 feet wide, projects 65 feet from this building. A similar structure is found on a smaller building in the complex. A building, 120' x 30', and 7 smaller structures comprise the remainder of the facilities within the walled area. Cooling basins or water purification beds, 440' x 1801, are found along the northwestern perimeter of the plant area. Workers' quarters and administrative buildings are nearby. 17. Probable Storage Area Two warehouse type buildings, are located 200 feet from the Ural River in an area partially enclosed by a wall. Railroad facilities consist of two marshalling yards. The larger yard is approximately 2,500 feet long and 9 tracks wide. Service facilities are located at the western end and include a -4- Approved For Release 2001/08713: CIA-RDP78T05694A000300010019-5 SECRET 25X1D SECRET Approved For Release 2001/08/13 : CIA-RDP78T05694A000300010019-5 25X1D probable Oar repair shop, and three smaller shops. A roundhouse is located in the area but with no apparent track activity. A through type station serves the town. Toward the 25X1D eastern terminus two warehouses, and 3301 x 30, are served by rail. The smaller marshalling yard is approximately 1,000 feet long and 4 tracks wide, terminating in a reversing triangle. Five spur tracks lead to a roundhouse, and an adjoining 25X1D service shop -5- Approved For Release 2001/08/13 : CIA-RDP78T05694A000300010019-5 SECRET 25X1D Approved For Release 2001/08/13 : CIA-RDP78T05694A000300010019-5 Approved For Release 2001/08/13 : CIA-RDP78T05694A000300010019-5 Approved For Release 2001/08/13 !Sggl;TO5694A000300010019-5 CO 0c t Rhi: meg cc elease 2001/08/13 : CIA-RDP78T05694A000300010019-5 SECRET
