KIOUSIN DOCKS, SHANGHAI, CHINA
This report presents the results of photo analysis of the area
known as KIOUSIN DOCKS, Shanghai, China (32?12'15"N-121?29'30"E).
The analysis is based on photographic missions exposed in
The Kiousin Docks, Shanghai are located on the West bank of the
Huang-P'u-Chiang between the Sun Dah Flour Mill to the south and the
Tung Chang Cotton and Oil Mill to the north. The yard is approx-
imately 500 feet wide and 600 feet in depth. For additional detail
see map, Annex 1 to this report.

map, purposes and their sizes are as follows:

The dock yard shows considerable development during the period
There has been little apparent con-
struction of new buildings but the -photography indicates a
considerable expansion of vessel handling facilities.
Two small marine railways have been replaced with a single
marine railway (item No. 9) that is capable of handling vessels at
least 190 feet long. A second graving dock (item No. 8) is under
construction in an area formerly occupied by two small marine
railways. Completed length of this dock will be approximately
250 feet,
A third graving dock may be under construction as indicated at
Item No. 10 on the Annex to this report.
A minor but significant change is to be noted in the yard. The
period between the photo missions has seen areas of the yard take
on an appearance of order and cleanliness that was notably lacking

There were ten vessels tied to the dock area in These
included seven identical possibly patrol craft,
two cargo vessels and one 90 by 25 foot vessel.
In addition there were 190 foot vessel on the marine railway
(item No. 8) and three floating gantry cranes with hull dimensions
of 80 by 30 feet in the existing graving dock.
