Extensive concrete taxiway system and 7 hangars on the E and SW. Aircraft observed: 2 probable Bison, 1 Badger, 11 Cab, 2 Coach, 1 Crate, 7 probable Beagle, 4 Hare, and 58 probable Farmers. e. NOVOSIBIRSK NORTH AIRFIELD 55? 04' N - 82? 55' E Concrete runway oriented NNE/SSW measuring 3300 x 260 feet. Two hangars with a third underconstruction. Aircraft observed 43 Coach/Crate, 4 Cab, 2 probable Hound, 14 possible Colt, approximately 20 possible Creek. f. A relatively large unidentified storage area is located on the NE outskirts of the city. 3. RUBTSOVSK 51? 31' N - 810 14' E Rubtsovsk is covered by excellent oblique photography with only scattered cloud cover. COMMUNICATIONS INSTALLATION U/C 430 28'N-77?01' E Overall dimensions of single-fenced site measures 7800 x 1950 feet. Two transmitter buildings with cooling ponds are under construction. Along one length of the area is a serpentine row of 17 lattice towers each measuring approxi- mately 185 feet high. Along the opposite long side of the area is a serpentine row of 13 lattice towers measuring approximately 370 feet in height. Four of these towers are under construction. At the north end of the installation are footings for some 19 towers. b. ALMA ATA NORTH AIRFIELD 430 27' N - 77? 03' E Sod airfield approximately 3000 x 4000 feet. Aircraft observed: 6 probable Creek. c. ALMA ATA NORTHWEST AIRFIELD 43?21'N-76?58'E Sod airfield oriented N/S measuring 8000 x 2500 feet. No aircraft. Aircraft observed: 16 Coach/Crate, 14 Cab, 10 probable Colt, 8 probable Creek, 1 Hound. 39? 31'N-75?57'E Visible on far oblique with runway oriented approximately E/W and measuring approximately 6500 by 175 feet. No aircraft visible. 8. BARNAUL 530 20' N - 83? 47' E The major portion of Barnaul is cloud-covered. The Altayskaya area (53? 24' N - 83? 56' E), however, is clear. There is good coverage of the Altayskaya Railroad Station and Yards and the Altayskaya Railroad Car Manufacturing Plant. SUMMARY: This preliminary study reports two major atomic energy installations, several major industrial complexes, two major communications facilities, six major airfields with a total of 16 bombers, 194 fighters, 140 transport, 41 liaison, and 7 helicopters. Numerous smaller airfields were noted.
