This report is one in a series on Soviet Ground Force and Logistic
installations being prepared for a DIA-'Cl.\ Panel. The series is being.
coordinated, published and disseminated by NPIC. The photographic
analysis is being performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group,
the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division (\PIC), and the Production
Center 1P la (DI:\). The photographic analysis for this particular re-
port was performed by the Production Center 1Pla.
In the interest of uniformity, the tit],-, and letter designators tot
the facilities observed at these installations are identical with those
appearing in the project requirement. When a specific facility is not
observed both its title and letter designator are omitted in the report.
Titles and letter designators for the various facilities are as
follows: (A) railroad service, (13) road service, (C) landing strips,
(D) administrative and troop housing areas, (F) storage areas, (F) am-
munition storage areas, (G) POL storage areas, (111 other buildings and
facilities, (J) equipment storage 'maintenance areas, (K) athletic fields,
(L) small arms firing ranges, (\1) driver training areas, (\) tank
assault gun firing ranges, (P) flat trajectory firing ranges, (Q) artillery
emplacements (batteries), (K) infantry or combined arms field train-
ing areas or courses, (S) special training facilities, (T) unidentified

Kirillovskoye Army Barracks
West located at 60-26-
50N 029-04-30E. The eastern edge is only 2
kilometers (km) west of Kirillovskoye; how-
e er, the installation extends westward for 10
(Figure 1).
The training facility covers approximately
19 square miles and contains tank/assault-gun
firing ranges, flat-trajectory firing ranges,
small-arms ranges, tracked-and wheeled-ve-

hide driver-training courses, bivouac areas,
and artillery and combined arms training areas.
There are 15 range support buildings and towers.
The 20-acre barracks area has 3 barracks/
administration buildings, 11 barracks, 7 vehicle/
equipment storage structures, 12 warehouses,
and 20 miscellaneous support buildings (Fig-
ure 2).

Area D1 contains 3 multistory barracks/ad-
ministration buildings, I possible water tower,
11 barracks, and 16 support buildings.
Areas D2 and D3 are bivouac areas.
This combined army installation consists
the Kirillovskoye Training Area West (BE

Equipment Storage/Maintenance Area
Area J contains six 280-by 50-foot equip-
ment storage buildings, one 180- by 45-foot
equipment storage building, and 4 support build-
ings. Unidentified vehicles/equipment were ob-
served on
Small-Arms Firing Ranges
Area LI is a 700- by 90-foot small-arms
firing range.
Area L2 is a 950- by 100-foot small-arms
firing range.
Area M1 is -a closed-loop, tracked-vehicle
driver-training facility constructed on the site
of a former airfield.-
Area M2 is a closed-loop, probable wheeled-
and tracked-vehicle driver-training facility.

Area M3 is a short closed-loop facility,
probably for wheeled vehicles.
Area M4 is a closed-loop, possible wheeled-
and tracked-vehicle training facility with heavy
scarring within the loop.
Tank/Assault-Gun Firing Ranges
Area N1 is a 4,500-foot tank/assault-gun
firing range with eleven 2,500-foot lanes, 7
moving targets, and 8 range control towers.
Area N2 is a 3,200-foot tank/assault-gun
firing range with two 1,500-foot lanes, 2 mov-
ing targets, 2 range control towers, and 3
support buildings. At the end of the driving
loops, there are 5 fixed positions for firing at
the same targets at reduced range.
Areas P1 through P4 are flat-trajectory
firing ranges.
Area P1 is 1,900 feet in length and has
probable fixed targets at the end of 9 firing
lines.
Area. P2 is 5,000 feet in length and has
probable fixed targets at 1,000, 2,000, and
3,000 feet and possible random targets be-
yond.
Area P3 is 3,500 in length, has probable
random targets, and probably uses random tar-
gets of range P2.
Area P4 is 3,500-ft in length and has prob-
able random targets. --
Artillery Emplacements (Batteries)
There are numerous linear FA emplace-
ments throughout Area Q.
Infantry or Combined Arms Field Training
Area or Courses
Area R contains a tactical defensive net-
work of obstacles and weapons emplacements.
Area S1 is a possible APC firing range
with 2 driving loops and 3 sets of possible
fixed targets.
Area S2 contains antivehicular obstacles
and defenses along the road. Off-road movement
is practiced. This training course extends 5
km from range P1.
Unidentified Facilities or Tracking Activity
Area T contains scattered small groups
of weapons emplacements.
