The special rail cars observed on photography of at the possible propellant handling and storage area, Shuang-cheng-tzu.Missile Test Center (41 OOid - 100 l~+E), China have been described as specially designed cars for the transportation of missile fuels, liquid oxygen or other chemicals. The tank cars also observed at this location (see Figure 1 and 2) may be used to transport nitric acid or .some other type acid. 2. A search was conducted of selected chemical combines in China that are known producers of nitric acid and nitrogen fertilizers for the appearance of these special rail cars and also possible chemical tank cars. No special rail cars were observed at az~y of the chemical combines, however tank cars could be seen at some of the chemical lants. Six tank cars were observed on photography of adjacent to the nitric acid section of the Ta-lien Chemical Combine (38 57 5~N - 121 ;37 ,20E ), China (See Figures 3 and 4). These tank cars and others in the railyard-were :aeasured to determine if a common denominator could be found between them and tank cars at Shuar~-cheng-tzu Missile Test Center. Tank cars under 30 feet in length have a suspected relationshi to nitric acid shipment. These tank cars with a measurement of possibly transport petroleum products. 25X1D 3. All measurements were made by the NPIC Technical Intelligence Division. on the Mann 880 comparator using the multiple pointing technique. Lengths and widths of the rail tank cars were difficult to point to as images were poor and there were no sharp corners to locate.
