This requirement also requested informa- tion on any other communications facilities serving this \1RBM complex, but none were lo- cated due to the obliquity and poor quality of the photography. No 2, which is located 3.3 nautical miles (nm) Location: Approximately 0.1 nm west of Kur- gancha MRB\1 Launch Area No 2 Coordinates: 3-37N 65-57L The fishbone antenna has been construc- ted since September 1963 and is located within a large irregular-shaped secured area measur- TOP SECRET RUFF Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2012/08/20: CIA-RDP78TO5439A000300370015-6 TOP SECRET RUFF TO MRBM LAUNCH AREA NO 2 TO M R B M L A U N C H A R E AE A N O MAJOR AXIS ORIENTATION 340',1180- IAPPROXIMATEI 12OO' Road Fence Fishbone antenna mast bases (two-bay, 5-3-3-5 pattern) 200 O 200 600 TOP SECRET RUFF in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2012/08/20: CIA-RDP78TO5439A000300370015-6 I Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2012/08/20: CIA-RDP78TO5439A000300370015-6 TOP SECRET RUFF ing approximately 1,660 by 1,200 feet on its north and east sides (FiLure 2). The secured area contains one control building. I here are indications that the area may also contain other types of antennas, but poor-quality pho- tography and obliquity preclude an accurate analysis of the specific types. The fishbone antenna is arranged in a two- bay, 5-3-3-5 pattern, and covers an area 263 by 246 feet measured from guy anchor to guy anchor. The fishbone antenna is estimated to have an optimum frequency of 18 megacycles with a usable range of 13 to 22 megacycles. \I \P- OR ('11 \I;T- \('IC. l r .Air T::r' ('.,::r:. ~,?r -- -L AI.. 1-t ~'d, 5.'r HU, -ale :. ~t~l,u~-in (SECRET) \( 7( I ~ Air T::r~?'t (( r,. -' -r - r4~ r; ~i:;:;~ 'S \. 1-t interi.. ed. Correspondence along the great circle bear- ing with Kurgancha could possibly be associated With Irgiz, Orsk, Ufa, Perm, and Izhevsk, as well a Murmansk. This major axis orientation is subject to reasonable error due to the obliq- uity of the photography and to the fact that only one bearing could be obtained.- TOP SECRET RUFF Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2012/08/20: CIA-RDP78TO5439A000300370015-6
