The Verkhnyaya Salda ICBA4 Complex is
located in a forested area of gently rolling hills
north of the to"?n of Verkhnyaya Salda, along the
south bank of the Tagil river (Figure 1). It ex-
tends 23.E nautical miles (nm) in a generally
northeast-southwest direction, and consists of a
complex support facility, grail-to-road transfer
point,
- an auxiliary support facilit}?, and nine
launch areas. The launch areas include 2 T}?pe
IIA sites (B and C), 3 Type IIB sites (A, D, and
E), 2 Type IIC sites (H and I), and 2 Type III?A
sites (F and G). The T}ape II sites all have an
orientation of, 345 degrees,
The Type III sites are oriented on an ,
azimuth of 45 degrees
~'1'ide-radius turns are present throughout the
Nizhniy Tagil SAM Site B36-2,

The complex is situated in an area of heavy

The complex support facility at 58-02N
60-23E is S nm west-northwest of Verkhnyaya
Salda. It contains a railhead and storage area,
an administration and housing area, and a housing
area (Figures 2 and 3). The entire facility
covers an area approximately 1.5 by 0.7 nm and
contains about 318 buildings. No security meas-
ures are evident. The facility is road and rail
served. The complex main road leads from the
Nizhniy Tagil- Verkhnyaya Salda highway through
the complex support facility to the launch areas.
It is also served b}' a spur that branches from
the Nizhniy Tagil- Verkhnyaya Salda rail line at
a point 13 nm east of Nizhniy Tagil.
