Buries Border. No roads were observed crossing the Laos - Bursa border. b. Leas - Chino Border. Only one Wed crosses the Leos - Chins border (wee C / - at approximately 21 268 - 1C1 lsyE. This is the newly constructed road, opened in 1963, which terminates at Priong Salt' (21 h1Z - 102 06E). This is a two-lone, impro' ed road which traverser en area 'with relative steep relief. There are may curves and rwitch-beckea which greatly reduce the grades. There are four single-lane unimproved roads radiating short diE- tances from K.aong Bing (21 1211 - 101 093). Qne of these roo=d's extends to within two nautical miles of the Laos - China border and to within four nautical miles of a single-lame, unimproved road in China, which mskee con- nections with the main two-lame road linking Leos with Chine (fee CIA/PIP1IB- P-518/64). C. Laos - Borth Vietnam Border. North crow Route 7 only lour roods were observ crossing the border.- There also were three other areas where roads were observed nearing the border; however, only trails erocred. An improved single-lane road,extemds generally northeast fron Houei Yeui (21 112 - _l02 49R), crosses the border at 21 1311 - 1C2 55E (see CIA/ PID/I3-P'-51:1/64), and continues on to Dien Bien Phu (21 23B - 103 ClE). This road has sany switch-backs near the border, as it crosses a divide. Vest t`toee Hopei Yeui this rood was single-lane and unimproved. It became a trail at epproximately 21 09N - 102 423C Near Hociei Yeui there are two fords. Route 6, an ved, single-lane road, crosses the Laos - North Vietnam border at 20 le - 104 29E (see CIA/PID/IB-P-52O/64), ctnd continues on to Sam Maus. (20 253 - 104 293). There is a ferry crossing the Pam W (River) at Ban Bop Bee_u (20 43N - i04 2=). There are many mall bridges along this route. Although Route 6 is designated as a single-lane rood, it appears that fro vehicles can pass at most points along the route if vehicle halts or slows down considerably. one A third rou te,, crossing the border at appZoximately 20 1.ER - 1Cl4 4TE, sakes connecti ons with Route 6 in Laos at 20 283 - 104 12E (tee CIA/ PID/IB-P 520/64)- Iftir is a single-lane, improved read which appears vide enough for vehicles to pass with extreme caution. A possible rmintensnce facility is located just inside the Laos border at approximately 20 11N - Route ( is a single-lone, improved road which is wide enough for vehicles to pass with caution in most places. This road crosses the border at 19 283 - 104 05E (see CIAjPIDJI)%-P-521/64).
