OPERATIONAL HEXADIC SAM SITES AND SUPPORT FACMITIES
SINO-SOVIET BLOC COUNTRIES
This brief presents a complete tabulation of operational hexadic
surface-to-air missile (SAM) sites. and support facilities in Sino-Soviet
Bloc countries identified from all types of photography available at
CIA/PIC.
It is interesting to note that of the 133 SAM sites identified to date,
46 percent were initally identified from KEYHOLE photography (20 per-
cent from and 26 percent from
25X1 D
The following tabulation includes not only a total count of sites and
support facilities at complexes, but also a net yield from each source of
photography (KEYHOLE system, TALENT system, ' and other). The
column titled "Other Photos" includes small-format aerial, ground, etc.
This tabulation does not include the hexadic R & D and training SAM sites
at the Kapustin Yar Missile Test Center or the R & D-type SAM sites at
Sary Shagan Antimissile Complex, nor does it include the 33 identified
herringbone SAM sites ringing Moscow.
