This report is one in a series on Soviet Ground Force and Logistic
installations being prepared for a DIA/CIA Panel. The series is being
coordinated, published and disseminated by NPIC. The photographic
analysis is being performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group,
the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division (NPIC), and the Production
Center 1Pla (DIA). The photographic analysis for this particular re-
port was performed by the Production Center IPla.
In the interest of uniformity, the titles and letter designators for
the facilities observed at these installations are identical with those
appearing in the project requirement. When a specific facility is not
observed both its title and letter designator are omitted in the report.
Titles and letter designators for the various facilities are as
follows: (A) railroad service, (B) road service, (C) landing strips,
(D) administrative and troop housing areas, (E) storage areas, (F) am-
munition storage areas, (G) POL storage areas, (H) other buildings and
facilities, (J) equipment storage /maintenance areas, (K) athletic fields,
(L) small arms firing ranges, (M) driver training areas, (N) tank/
assault gun firing ranges, (P) flat trajectory firing ranges, (Q) artillery
emplacements (batteries), (R) infantry or combined arms field train-
ing areas or courses, (S) special training facilities, (T) unidentified
facilities or tracking activity.

Leninakan Army Barracks AL 6 is located
on the western edge of Leninakan, approximately
1 kilometer (km) south of Leninakan ArmyBar-
racks West and 1 km east of Leninakan Army
Barracks Southwest (Figure 1).
The partially secured installation covers
approximately 95 acres and contains 2 admin-
istration buildings, 3 barracks, 7 vehicle main-
tenance/storage buildings, 2 storage buildings,
38 support buildings, and 24 quarters-type
buildings.
Comparative analysis reveals continual usage
and increasing activity. I photography
reveals the presence of 10 probable tanks/SP
guns, 6 possible field artillery pieces, and 26
wheeled vehicles.
Railroad Service
The Leninakan railroad station is located
2.6 km east.
Road Service
Urban streets serve the installation.
Aircraft Landing Strip
Leninakan Airfield is located 3.2 km south-
Administration and Troop Housing Areas
Area Dl contains 1 T-shaped administra-
tion building, 3 multistory barracks (1 L-
shaped), and 12 support buildings.
Area D2 contains 24 quarters-type build-
ings (1 L-shaped), and 7 support buildings.
Other Buildings
Area H contains 9 support buildings.
Equipment Storage/Maintenance Area
Area J contains one 280- by 60-foot vehicle
maintenance building, 6 vehicle storage buildings
(315 by 55 feet, feet,
and three 2 storage buildings,
1 administration building, and 10 support build-
ings. Approximately 10 large unidentified
objects and 2 rows of unidentified equipment
are stored in the open. overage
reveals that Area J now contains a figure-8
driver-training area, 10 probable covered
tanks/SP guns, 6 possible field artillery pieces,
and 26 probable wheeled vehicles.
