MOSCOW/FILI AIRFRAME PLANT NO. 23
This memorandum provides a metric analysis of nine buildings
comprising the portion of the Moscow/F:ili Airframe Plant No. 23 which
has been constructed since _and is based on photography.
It is intended to supplement CIA/RR RA-~20 which is a detailed study of
this plant based on_photography.
Moscow/Fili Airframe Plant No. ~ 3 is believed to be the only
factory producing the Bison heavy bomber and is estimated to be one of
the five largest Soviet airframe plants . It is located in the western
part of Moscow in a bend of the Moscow Rivera
CIA/RR RA-20 estimates -floorspace to have been 2.4 million
square feet, and roof cover, 2. 1 million square feet. The nine buildi ngs
constructed since -provide an additional 712, 540 square feet of floor
space and 590, 370 square feet of roof cover, making -floor space 25X1D
3 . 1 million square feet and roof cover 2 , 7 million square feet.
Table 1 tabulates dimensions, number of stories, roof cover and
floor space of the nine post World War Il: buildings, which are annotated
on the accompanyi~.g photograph and described in the following key.
Buildings 1, 2, and 3, are identified in CIA/RR RA-20 as Nos. 47, 45,
and 46 respectively, and were described in that report on the basis of
inconclusive postwar collateral information.

Building 1 (47) A probable combination shop anal administration
building. It has two twa-story wings and the shop
portion has eight transverse roof monitors .
Building 2 (45) A Section - Probable combination shop and admini-
stration building. ?nly the exterior walls of this
sect9on had kreen erected at the time of the -photo-
graphy. It h:as two three-story wings .
B SE:ction - 'A grabable: comination hangar and admini-
stration building. It has two three-story wings.
Building 3. (46) Probable combination shop and administration build-
ing ~~vith one two-story wing.. The shop portion has
four longitudinal roof monitors .
Building 4 Pos:~ible warehouse .
Building 5 Possible shop or warehouse .
Building 6 "T" shaped, probable combination shop and admini-
stration building. The exterior walls. of this building
had been erc;cted at the time of photography. The wing
portion is pi?obably two stories .
