Novosibirsk Airfield: Northeast, which adjoins the aircraft plant on the northeast, is used primarily as a test and flyaway field. The following aircraft were observed at the airfield 128 Farmers, four Cabs, one Beagle, one Fresco, one probable Colt and a small unidentified single engine aircraft. The aircraft plant occupies an area approximately 4200 by 2200 feet with a roof cover of slightly over two million square feet. The plant is _xaffservedandinciudes two large airframe assembly buildings, 1150 by 590 feet and 870 by 435 feet, and supporting forges, foundry, power plant and machine shops. Adjoining the plant on the west is a large lumber mill and in the western part of the plant area proper are several woodworking shops engaged in the manufacture of crates for shipping aircraft fuselages. KEY TO ANNOTATIONS 1. Lumber storage and woodworking shops area. This area is served by several rail spurs and consists of the following single-story build- ings: Planing. mill, 320' x 100' Five woodworking shops., 300' x 90', 290' x 60', 265' x 65', 200' x 80', :and one. 700' x 95' ,wihh' . longitudinal monitor roof. Thirteen lumber storage sheds, 215' x 40', 490' x 40', and eleven 110' x 501. Crate assembly shop, 1901 x 85'. Warehouse, 410' x. 115'. Two administration buildings, 220' x 40' and 1701 x 40'. A 135'-high, 40'-diameter water standpipe and a 551 x 401 transformer house are also located in this area. 2. Two engineering/laboratory buildings. One is 130' x 40'.. The other, 160' x 45', is completely enclosed by a high fence. 3. Forge, T-shaped, 155' x 80' and 275' x 65'. 4. Possible laboratory, 145' x 40'. 5. Sub-assembly building, single story, 870' x 435', monitor roof. 6. Foundry, 290' x 651. 7. Coal preparation building, 2101 x 501. Adjacent to large rail- served coal storage area. Two shop buildings, 145' x 701 and 901 x 901. 10. Crating building, 380' x 1201. The presence of 10-12 fighter air- craft fuselages adjacent to this building suggests that the function of this building is the packing and crating of fuselages. 11; Two loading sheds, 160' x 45' and 100' x 70'. A railroad track passes through these buildings. The fuselages, crated in the adjoining building No. 10), are loaded for shipment here.. 12. Hangar, three bay, 360' x 170', 13. Flight production building, 380' x 185' , 14. Flight operations building, 130' x 45'.,. 15. Nose hangar, 260' x 50'. 16. Shops and sub-assembly building, 1150' x 485', 25' high. 17. Final assembly hall, 1150' x 105', 18. Administration building, T-shaped, 240' x 55' and 280' x 55'. Probably contains mess hall, recreation facilities, and living quarters.. 19. Main administration building, three-story, irregular shape, 23, 000 sq. ft. roof cover. 20. Machine shop, 540' x 180', partly under construction. 21. Shop, 275' x 110' . 22. Possible engineering building, 500' x 170', longitudinal monitor roof. 23.
