ORR REQUIREMT NO. RR/HTA/E/R1O1/56: Confirm or deny the reported existence of a
small petroleum refinery near Stryy, USSR.
During World War II a small refinery was reported to have been operating in
the vicinity of Stryy, which is located 50 miles E of the junction of the
Poland/Czechoslovakia/USSR borders.
Recent photography of the area within a radius of 5 miles of Stryy was
searched in a vain attempt to locate this reported petroleum refinery.
The small scale and relatively poor quality of this photography precludes a
positive denial of the existence of this refinery. If it does exist in this area
it would be a very small installation.
