The plant area was photographe nd was covered again by aerial photography on It has produced airframes since before World War II an is present y engaged in the production of MI-4 (HOUND) helicopters, six of which are visible in the plant area in the -photography. The plant area, which has been increased since (see Figure 1), now totals 78.4 acres. An area to the southeast of the plant, identified as a part of the plant in previous photographic intelligence studies based on earlier coverage, is identified in this photography as an aviation technical school for work on FAGOT/FRESCO aircraft. No unusual rail cars or any engine test cells are evident at the plant in the- aerial photography. Total roof cover for major components of the plant is with a total usable floor space of Kazan Northwest Airfield (see Figure 2) is located approximately 4 miles north of Airframe Plant 387. It is a sod-surfaced airfield and appears to be used primarily as a final check-out center, and a fly-awa.y field for helicopters produced at the airframe plant. Aircraft at the field on onsisted of 28 HOUND helicopters (3 without rotors), 1 COLT, 2 CREEK, and 9 FAGOT/FRESCO. A secured area at the southeast corner of the airfield contains one building, a probable nose hangar and workshop. This area also has 9 MIGs parked within its confines on the photography. This area. is possibly a section of the previously mentioned aviation technical school. Total roof cover of the airfield buildings amounts to with a total usable floor space of Major components of the airframe plant and airfield are given in Tables 1. and 2, and are keyed to Figures 1 and 2, respectively.
